Darrell Mansfield with Surrender
Darrell Mansfield's blues style of Christian praise and worship is considered by many to be a great blessing to Christians the world over. Darrell's ministry of harmonica and vocals has been bringing glory to Jesus Christ for almost 3 decades and just keeps getting better with time. His performances are more powerful now than at any other time in his music ministry, as his purpose is now settled. Darrell Mansfield longs to give something back to a world that reflects the neediness and hunger that drove him to the "Bread of Life."
Surrender
Reinier Ketting-Olivier of Surrender began as a one-man band writing songs of praise to God during a difficult time of life. Several years ago, Reinier added various musicians and began to perform his music in concert settings including local churches, parks, and the Chilliwack Gospel Blues festival. His current band is a family affair with son Jordan on drums and brother Marcel on bass. Completing Surrender's sound is vocalist Jennifer Boldt. Surrender has recently released their first CD entitled Out of the Woodwork. Their style is gospel blues and straight ahead rock with a few slower ballads thrown in for a change of pace.
Danny Brooks and the Rockin’ Revelators
For the first time on the Back to the blues stage we are pleased to introduce Danny Brooks and his band from the Toronto area Brooks has just released his newest CD Rock this House produced by Richard Bell.
Read this review in Christian Week magazine: “Brooks has found a style that permits him to perform gospel on the secular blues circuitso he’s equally at home performing in a church as he is in a blues bar; ironically, there may be more uncomfortable folk in the church setting, as he lays the gospel down. Imagine what his tavern audience might be thinking as Brooks sings, “He’s going to rock down every stronghold/ Rock down every chain/ Take whatever’s wrong and make it right.../ He’s in the soul shakin’ business and that’s why we’re here tonight!” It’s true that most early street corner blues singers included gospel in their repertoire; like them, Brooks has earned the right to sing about the grace of God, because he’s the real deal.” -D.S. Martin/Music Critic
NO EASY WAY OUT: Brooks is thrilled that soul singers' Bonnie Bramlett and Carla Russell are singing on the new record. Bonnie was part of the legendary Delaney, Bonnie & Friends and the only 'white' singer to sing with the 'Ikettes' of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue, recently starred in the movie The Guardian with Kevin Costner. Carla sings like Janis meets Aretha and having Bonnie and her singing together is amazing soul! Watch for this new release coming soon on the Rockin' Camel Records label.

First Born Live
Twenty five years ago Joe Hawley and Lee Connors met as construction workers with a desire to create and perform great music. After a few odd attempts at sodding a music career, a blues, folk and hard rock concoction called Firstborn hit the stage in 1989. With a focus on original material, the near blood-brother’s songs cover subject matter from life lessons, to the love of a woman, to gospel typemessages with a depth and drive beyond the typical top 40 fare.
Johnny Mannion
Johnny Mannion began his professional music career in 1985 when he did a 6 year stint with Tom Cat Courtney's band. He has played in several bands and for the last 9 years and had been fronting Sweet Blue Onion just before his conversion to Christ in October of 2005.
Johnny met several musicians at his church and they began playing together on the worship team (who later formed his new band). Johnny has a very aggressive "power-blues" style and has been compared to the likes of Johnny Winter, Freddie King and Coco Montoya. For Johnny, the blues never felt so good!

The Revs
The Revs are an apocalyptic four-piece guitar driven blues rock band that is steeped in the classic bluesy tones produced by vintage guitars and tube amplifiers. The Revs band is a two-edged musical sword with its first priority to minister to lost and broken people with a down to earth message of hope in a real, living God.
The Revs have played for people in addiction treatment centers, people living on the streets, for at-risk kids, and are now preparing to go into correctional institutions. The other purpose of the Revs is to convict the hearts of people everywhere to respond to the Bible's call to love and serve the less fortunate. The themes of Revs songs range from deeply personal to apocalyptic visions of the end of days. The Revs deliver an authentic message and are always seeking to push the envelope and see where the Spirit may lead.

KL Williams and Rebel Soul
KL Williams began using drugs when he was 12 years old, shortly after his mother died from ovarian cancer. In one of is last phone conversations with his mother from her hospital room, Rick recalls her saying, "Of all the kids, I worry about you the most." Her words seemed almost prophetic. Shortly after her death, Rick began the fast spinning journey battling the demons of drugs and alcohol.
For over 20 years KL fed his addictions. When KL got clean and sober, he was 42 years old. The years had passed, and it was time for him to stop hurting his family, himself and the Lord.
After he started working the 12-step program, a member of Narcotics Anonymous, he met his wife, Dawn. She encouraged KL to explore his musical talents. He started writing gutsy blues music and lyrics about his life with Jesus and his battles with the devil. KL’s gravelly voice and rhythmic blues guitar combined for a musical treasure that comes from the heart a life truly surrendered and one gripping onto God’s grace.
KL Williams and Rebel Soul perform all original music, and the band members have donated their talents to social causes.
KL's father was a nuclear engineer and later remarried. He moved the family from Walnut Creek, California, to Kennewick Washington. It was the '60's and KL found artificial solace in the hippy counter-culture movement. Like a thirst never satisfied, drug use multiplied throughout his high school years prescription narcotics, marijuana, LSD, and eventually heroin. KL hung out with other addicts, went to concerts and played guitar, all the while becoming more alienated from his family.
The hippie culture grew more decadent, and KL became very disillusioned with the lifestyle. He recalls one night lying awake in a Seattle homeless shelter with other addicts sleeping on rows of mattresses when an elderly man next to him started convulsing with withdrawal symptoms. To KL's horror, the man jerked on top of him, pinning him to the mattress as the mans arms and legs flailed uncontrollably. The experience was terrifying, but the next day, KL went out looking for the next score.
Heroin ate up the years. Two decades had passed when KL found himself with absolutely nothing and living on the streets. He had been to several rehab facilities and behavioral modification treatment programs. Nothing worked. He was checking out of a government-run rehab center for the tenth time when he called his dad to try and get some money. (His drug habit was beckoning him for another fix.) When his step-mother answered the phone, she told him they wouldn't give him any more money. She also told KL that his dad was in open-heart surgery at that time, and that much of his health devastated he hadn't realized the toll it was taking on his family. It was time to change.
He went straight to a Narcotics Anonymous meeting and started the long road to recovery one day at a time. In realizing that he was powerless to quit his drug use and change his lifestyle, KL turned to Jesus for healing and victory. He met his wife, Dawn, and became very involved in a church.
Through his wife's encouragement, KL began to explore his musical talents. He started writing gutsy blues music and lyrics about his life with Jesus and his battles with the devil. KL's gravelly voice and rhythmic blues guitar combined for a musical treasure that comes from the heart a life truly surrendered and one gripping onto God's grace.
